Discovering the flavours of Portugal: Our Thermomix fueled culinary adventure

Published on 25 October 2024 at 11:59

After a sun-soaked getaway in Portugal, we're back and bursting to share all the details, especially about the food. Portugal didn’t just serve up stunning coastal views and rich history, it dished out some unforgettable flavours that we’re still dreaming about.

One standout experience? Meeting a local chef who introduced us to Portugal’s version of the Thermomix, affectionately called “Bimby” over there. If you’ve been with us long, you know our love for the Thermomix, so finding out it’s a culinary staple here felt like a sign! The chef used his Bimby to create authentic Portuguese dishes that captured the country’s rich traditions, yet with a modern flair. He told us he mostly makes soups and sauces with it and the bowl size wasn't a challenge because he knew how many covers he had in advance.

One dish we can’t stop talking about is feijoada, a hearty and soulful Portuguese bean stew. This classic comfort food combines beans with meat, sausages, and spices, simmered to perfection—thanks to the Thermomix's help, of course. Served with rice and a hint of smoky depth, every bite warmed us from the inside out. It’s the kind of dish that speaks to the heart and history of Portugal and made us feel like we were tasting a piece of the country.

Portugal, you’ve set the bar high. We’ll be reimagining these flavours at home and, who knows, maybe we’ll try our own feijoada soon. Stay tuned for more of our take on Portuguese recipes and, of course, more Thermomix magic.

We've got some great new offers coming very soon, so watch this space. If you'd like a free demo, don't hesitate to get in touch!
